Das letzte Einhorn (The Last Unicorn)

Wo der Adler noch kreist
Doch seine Schreie schon verhallen
Wo der Regen versiegt
Tropfen zu rotem Staub zerfallen
Ist die Spur des Zauberwesens
Tief im Fliederwald verweht
Doch man träumt seit tausend Jahren
Dass das letzte Einhorn lebt

Wenn die Herbststürme zieh'n
Und es kreist die Legende
Wenn das Mondlicht verblasst
Und das Leben neigt dem Ende
Hat das Einhorn seine Freunde
So unendlich lang vermisst
Und es fragt sich, ob es wirklich
Schon das letzte Einhorn ist?

Traum und wahr!
Traum und wahr!

Wenn der Winter beginnt
Sucht es den Weg der Gefährten
Muss den Menschen entflieh'n
Die seine Kraft für sich begehrten
Seine Sanftmut hat es stark gemacht
Siegt über Hass und Zorn
Bringt den andren jetzt die Freiheit
Ist das Märchen neu gebor'n

Traum und wahr!
Traum und wahr!

Waking Up

Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free

Jet sounds a distant roar behind you
As you try to clear your head
You start to look and answers find you
Your inner purpose lies ahead

Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free
Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free

One step to calm the storm inside you
Unlock the secrets in your head
Not another day, no more confusion
No more living like the dead

It seems it's just out of sight
The ones with answers always get their way
And I think they should know
That I'm coming for them
Now

Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free
Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free
Waking up, breaking out
This is what it's like to be free
Rip it up, tear it down
This is what it means to be free

Vietnam Blues

I was on leave at the time, just duckin' the fog,
nosin' around like a hungry dog
in that crazy place called Washington, D.C.

I saw a crowd of people on the White House lawn
all carrying signs about Vietnam,
so I went on over to see what I could see.

They was a strange-looking bunch.
But I never did understand civilians.
A fellow came to me with a list in his hand.
'We're gatherin' names to send a telegram of sympathy.'
Then he handed me a pen.
I said, 'I reckon this is goin' to the children and wives
of my friends over there who've given their lives.'
He says, 'Uh-uh, buddy, this is goin' to Ho Chi Minh.'
I said, 'Ho Chi who?'
He said, 'Ho Chi Minh, People's Leader, North Vietnam.'

Well, I wasn't real sure I was hearin' him right.
But I thought we'd better remove before we got in a fight
because my eyes were smartin', and my pulse started hitting a lick.

I thought about another telegram I'd read
tellin' my buddy's wife that her husband was dead.
It wasn't too long till I was feelin' downright sick.

Another held the sign that said 'We won't fight.'
And I thought to myself, 'You got that right.
You'd rather let a soldier die instead.'

I said, 'You ever stop to think
that every man who died there in that far-off land
was dyin' so that you won't wake up dead?'

Of course, he looked at me like I was crazy,
just another warmonger.

Well, I left that place and went to town
and hit the first bar that I found to cool myself and pacify my brain.

See, I was on orders back to Vietnam, to a little place just north of Saigon,
and I had about an hour to catch my plane.

So, all I mean to say is, 'I don't like dyin' either.
But I care about the way I live.'

Because

Because I love you more
Than words could ever say
I can live again
With no regrets of dreams that died
Before you came

Because I know this time
This love is really mine
I can love again
And touch the stars
That seemed so very far away

There's a world for us to find
Far beyond the rainbow line
And new horizons every day
With love to guide us all the way
Eternally, eternally

Because you came to me
With all my dream to see
I can gift again
With no regrets for all I gave
Before you came

There's a world for us to find
Far beyond the rainbow line
And new horizons every day
With love to guide us all the way
Eternally, eternally

There's a world for us to find
Far beyond the rainbow line
And new horizons every day
With love to guide us all the way
Because there's you, because there's you

Blood Of A Mutt

I wouldn't name her burden
Or call him mistake
Or blame them on any
Pissed decision I've made

Respect for the man
Who pretended to be strong
And the woman who helped me
Find my song

Blood of a mutt
Whipped like a dog
Yes I'm a man
Though it's taken me so long
Formed by the fools
Who poisoned my gods
With a vengeance to prove it all wrong

Lying on the tracks of influence
Of every passing fling
Every judgement I make
Every song that I sing
Friends and foe
Every fork in the road
Add my tears to my tab
And leave me enough to get home

Blood of a mutt
Whipped like a dog
Yes I'm a man
Though it's taken me so long
Formed by the fools
Who poisoned my gods
With a vengeance of hatred and love

With my heart in my pocket
Both feet on the gas
Failure as my guide
Memories made of ash
Age by my side
So I'm never alone
Add my years to my tab
But leave me enough for the road

Blood of a mutt
Beat like a dog
Yes I'm a man
Though it's taken me so long
Formed by the fools
Who poisoned my gods
With a vengeance to prove them all wrong
